Location: Alexandria, Virginia (near the new National Science Foundation location)
Date: August 14 & 15, 2017
This workshop brings together cyberinfrastructure experts and organizational experts to discuss topics around the emerging cyberinfrastructure workforce that is increasingly important to science.
This workshop is a follow-up to previous RCN workshops – in particular the workshop at UC Santa Barbara on the Professionalization of Cyberinfrastructure. The workshop agenda will include talks from experts in the fields of cyberinfrastructure and organization science, and collaborative sessions to jointly identify key areas for collaborative projects and agenda setting for the community. Topics include professionalization of CI-related occupations; career paths for growth, development, and retaining CI personnel; and the emerging and diverse roles of CI occupations in virtual collaboration, infrastructure, and next generation scientific activity. We will also recap topics from past RCNs including virtual organizations and the value of CI enterprise.
